        Cement grinding installation sizing
      1   Introduction
        - This presentation introduces some calculators giving elements of sizing and only a first and rough idea of the
          dimensions of a cement grinding circuit.
        - The goal is not to replace an engineering office or any other equipment supplier  but to give an initial idea of the
          size of the mill and its auxiliaries.
        - These calculators are relatively simple and will remain like that.
      2   Non-exhaustive list of equipments to be sized
         2.1 Flowsheet of the installation:
        - This is a circuit equipped with a semi-finished pre-grinding system.
        - The flowsheet is divided into 2 parts.

         2.2 List of the equipments:
          Note: With reference to the numbers on the two flowsheets.
        - Item N°1:
          Storage of raw materials: clinker, gypsum, limestone, slag, pozzolana, fly ash ...
          There are various possibilities of storage in the case of a complete cement plant or a single grinding station.
          One can choose for halls storage or storage silos.
          The goal is to protect the material against rain and minimize the air pollution with dust contained in the material.
          The clinker storage capacity is often equivalent between 7 and 14 days of production.
          The clinker is most often stored in a conical covered shed with a diameter greater than 50m.

          This storage will not be treated here.
          We also include the case where the cement is produced with blast furnace slag as is often the case.
          Then one must have a drying system for the slag but this will not be developed here.
        - Item N°2:
          Transportation of raw materials to the feed hopper of the grinding circuit.
          In most cases, this is a belt conveyor with a distribution system to the different hoppers.
          This transport system will not be dimensioned here but in a subsequent item.
        - Item N°3:
          There will be a hopper for each component.
          Generally, it is dimensioned for a few hours of operation (a time of 4 hours can be a reasonable basis for
          Regarding the gypsum, for example, the hopper must be dimensioned for a longer time for practical reasons
          (low amount relative to the clinker).

        - Item N°4:
          We need a weighfeeder for each hopper.

          The weighfeeders supplier will choose the appropriate type according to the desired capacity and the type
          of material.

          Filtration system for the section of the weighfeeders.
          Fabric filters are best adapted to meet the needs of dedusting of this section.

          Belt conveyor to the grinding or pre-grinding circuit.
          The belt conveyors are particularly suitable for the cement industry.
          Cement plants have installed it for miles in all departments, from the quarry until the packing section.
